Wildlife at Suraloka Zoo

Suraloka Zoo, sprawling across 6,800 square meters, is home to hundreds of critters from all over the globe. This Interactive Zoo blends a zoo experience with a bunch of cool rides.

One standout perk of this mini zoo is its spot at the foot of Mount Merapi. So, not only do you get to hang out with cute animals, but you can also soak in the beauty of nature and breathe in the fresh air when you swing by.

The critter collection here is pretty extensive, not just limited to Indonesia. You’ll find unique ones like Indian spotted deer, Czech goats, cotton chickens, Pygmy goats, Merino goats, etc. This diversity adds a whole bunch of knowledge about different critters worldwide.

What to do?

Even though it’s quite new on the scene, Suraloka Zoo has this magnetic pull that’s got people curious and rolling in for a holiday. Some of the attractions include:

1. Interacting with Diverse Animal Collection

Besides getting to know these animals, visitors can also interact with some of the critters at Suraloka Interactive Zoo. Some of the animals here are tame, so no need to worry about any danger to visitors.

One cool spot for up-close interactions is the bird zone. The best part? There’s no extra cost for interacting with the birds – it’s included in the entrance ticket. You can get a close-up look at various bird species in this area. You can even feed the birds here to have a more intimate interaction.

If you’re up for feeding the birds, Suraloka Interactive Zoo has covered you with animal food packages. It’ll set you back Rp 10,000 for a small packet of bird feed in the bird zone.

Apart from the bird zone, you can also kick it with rabbits and Dutch mice at Suraloka Interactive Zoo. Unlike the bird zone, though, you need an entrance ticket to interact with these cute creatures in the rabbit area.

2. Insta-Worthy Photo Spots

The folks at Suraloka Zoo ensured there were loads of Insta-worthy photo spots. One cool thing is the dino statue – perfect for a fun pic with the kiddos.

3. Orchid House

Suraloka Interactive Zoo also has a Green House that can broaden your knowledge about plant species. You can check out various unique plants from different regions in this garden.

One thing that’s pretty easy to spot in the Green House at Suraloka Interactive Zoo is orchids. They’ve got a bunch, both local and non-local varieties.

If you’re keen on buying flower collections, you’re lucky – they allow it here. Just a heads up, though, it might dent your wallet because the prices can be pretty fancy.

Apart from flowers, the Green House at Suraloka Interactive Zoo also houses a cool aquarium with many marine fish collections.

4. Play Zone and Rides

Besides checking out the animals, you can have a blast with various rides at Suraloka Zoo. They’ve got everything from flying fox to wall climbing and hopping on the Thomas train.

With so many choices, you can pick a safe game and your style. Just make sure to peek at the rules for each play area because each spot has its own set of rules.

5. Food Stall and Resto

Like your typical modern-day attractions, they’re a bit strict about bringing outside food and drinks. No worries, though – a cafe & resto on the deck offers Nusantara dishes like Ayam Geprek, Ayam Crispy, and Ayam Bakar for 28 grand (including rice).

And if that’s not your vibe, they’ve got popcorn, burgers, and corndogs at the kiosks. Drinks? You’re covered, ranging from Rp5,000 to Rp10,000.

These grub and drink prices are what YogYes found when they hit up Suraloka Zoo on June 3, 2022 – but, of course, things might change down the road.
